Marina Bay Reclamation

Marina Bay was envisioned by the city planners as a second Downtown area for Singapore that offered an environment for ‘Living, Working and Playing’. We were tasked to deliver 38 ha of new land.

Marina Bay is near the Central Area in the southern part of Singapore, and lies to the east of the Downtown Core. The project’s proximity to the Singapore’s Central Business District posed a number of challenges. We developed a land reclamation profile that incorporated footprint requirements for various land use, in particular the sitting of iconic buildings.

Surbana Jurong’s land reclamation work at Marina Bay created a premium site for business, financial and high-end residential development. The area now hosts a vibrant waterfront environment with retail, hotel, and residential developments, including the iconic Marina Bay Sands integrated resort.
