Barcaldine Remote Community Solar Farm

Barcaldine Remote Community Solar Farm is a proposed 53 MW photovoltaic solar project located approximately 5 km east of Barcaldine in Queensland. The proposed Solar Farm comprises 79,000 solar modules. Each module is approximately 3 m wide and stands 2 m off the ground.The project has been designed using single-axis tracking technology, which allows solar panels to tilt in the direction of the sun as it crosses the sky, maximising the total energy generated and the effectiveness and efficiency of each of the solar panels.

Upon completion, Barcaldine Remote Community Solar Farm will:

  • Reduce reliance on fossil fuels and other non-renewable energy sources
  • Reduce annual greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 50,000 tonnes per annum (co2 equivalent)
  • Contribute more than 53,000 MWh of renewable electricity into the national grid each year
  • Provide cleaner, more reliable and affordable energy to Queensland residents

The project is being planned and developed by the Barcaldine Remote Community Solar Farm Pty Ltd (BRCSF), a company owned by Elecnor Australia Pty Ltd. Elecnor Australia is a subsidiary of Elecnor SA, one of the world’s leading solar energy EPC companies.

We are providing community consultation, design and engineering services for the proposed project.Our scope of work includes:

  • Environmental, social and economic assessments

  • Detail design for electrical, civil, structural and geotechnical aspects
