Energy Optimisation Assessment

We were engaged by Anglo American’s Metallurgical Coal (Met Coal) to undertake an Energy Optimisation Assessment across key operational assets located in Australia. The focus was to unlock energy optimisation benefits and enhance the performance and productivity of mining assets.

We undertook the following activities:

  • Historical energy consumption analysis
  • Identification and evaluation of energy optimisation opportunities
  • Estimating the opportunities’ value at stake

The objective of this assessment was to unlock energy optimisation benefits and enhance the performance and productivity of mining assets.

This assessment identified measures to reduce energy consumption and expenditure and improve efficiency and productivity.

We identified a number of fuel saving projects, including:

  • Fuel monitoring, metering and management
  • Fuel burn rate benchmarking
  • Refuelling performance analysis
  • Mine planning

Upon implementation of these fuel saving projects, Met Coal benefitted from a number of key outcomes, including:

  • Improved fuel monitoring, metering and management systems
  • Equipment optimisation
  • Fuel burn rate benchmarking
  • Refuelling performance assessment
