Home Team Tactical Centre (HTTC)

The centre in Mandai Quarry Road comprises training facilities for specialist units such as the Special Operations Command, Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team and Hazardous Materials Team. It comprises live fire close quarter battle ranges, a ship fire-fighting facility, a chemical hub training facility and an urban search and rescue training facility. The training areas in HTTC are designed to be as realistic as possible to better prepare officers for real life scenarios.

The facilities in the centre enable greater collaboration between the Singapore Police Force and the Singapore Civil Defence Force through joint training, which will allow specialist officers to coordinate their movements and increase their operational effectiveness when they are deployed in the event of an actual emergency. Two or more training facilities can also be used to simulate terrorism-related scenarios.

SJ Defence provided specialist consultancy, construction and installation of HTTC.

Key features:

  • The 270 degrees drive-in shooting range serves to prepare trainees for attacks from multiple directions and levels
  • Special operations officers can practise rappelling with a model of a Super Puma helicopter from a height
  • The ship fire-fighting facility consists of four decks of 10 different fire compartments and 13 fire points. It stands next to a nine-metre-deep pool to simulate rescues involving dive operations. Trainers can control fires up to 3m high with temperatures up to 300 degrees, and simulate the pressures of rescue by releasing smoke and cranking up mechanical noises
  • At the chemical hub training facility, SCDF officers learn how to rescue and decontaminate casualties exposed to gas leaks or trapped in industrial fires. They can also handle complex rescue operations and manage incidents involving hazardous materials and chemicals.
  • A partially collapsed building with an 18 degree slant and cramped confines prepare officers to respond to incidents of structural collapse.
