Singapore’s first poultry processing hub
JTC Poultry Processing Hub @ Buroh was designed to provide shared resources to its tenants for economies of scale.
Surbana Jurong’s Architecture team in Singapore has reached a major milestone with the successful delivery of a poultry processing hub for JTC.
Named JTC Poultry Processing Hub @ Buroh, the 8-storey multi-tenanted development is Singapore’s first one-stop processing hub in Singapore designed to house the poultry slaughtering and processing establishments. The building features shared resources to achieve higher productivity through scale and automation.
Surbana Jurong provided multidisciplinary consultancy services for this project, including architecture, mechanical and electrical engineering, civil and structural engineering, quantity surveying, landscape design, as well as sustainability and resiliency solutions.
The challenges faced by the team were in the planning and design stages, where the development had to be flexible enough to accommodate for future expansion plans and fit-out by tenants. In addition, close consultations were held with the Agri-food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore to ensure that stringent health and hygiene requirements were met, and security and outbreak control provisions were in place.
