New Mandalay Resort City NMRC to boost Myanmar’s economy
NMRC is an integrated township project in eastern Mandalay spanning over 10,000 acres.

Surbana Jurong will conduct a feasibility study on New Mandalay Resort City (NMRC), an integrated township project located on the outskirts of Pyin Oo Lwin township in eastern Mandalay that spans over 10,000 acres.

Under the supervision of Myanmar’s Ministry of Construction, Surbana Jurong will be the overall consultant and Master-planner, working together with Master Developer Central Ayeyarwady Development Limited.

NMRC is among the first 30 projects to be included in the Union Government’s Project Bank, where a list of prioritised public infrastructure projects are identified as key to Myanmar’s national development, to be managed on a public–private partnership basis. Other government ministries will be involved in the setting of policies to ensure the project’s success, which is expected to bring societal and economic benefits to the country.

NMRC will be divided into three sections of development, with Section 1 targeted to be completed in eight years. Some of the key features of each section:

  • Section 1 – zones for industrial, residential, education, integrated resort, golf course and eco-tourism.
  • Section 2 – zones for luxury and affordable residential, mixed use, commercial, medical and the future railway station.
  • Section 3 – an agricultural park located next to the agri-business cluster.

Singapore, 24 August 2018 – Surbana Jurong, one of the largest Asia-based urban and infrastructure consulting firms, and Ping An Trust Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Ping An Insurance (Group) Co., Ltd., today signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) to collaborate on the development of  Industrial New Township projects in China, beginning with the Shenzhen International Bio-Valley Industrial Park.

The MOUs were signed at the ninth Singapore-Guangdong Collaboration Council meeting held today.

An Industrial New Township is a people-centric development model that integrates industrial developments and urban living to create sustainable cities for industrial and residential uses.

Under the agreements, Surbana Jurong and Ping An Trust will collaborate in the development of Industrial New Township projects, with Shenzhen International Bio-Valley Industrial Park as the partners’ pilot project. The Park, located in Shenzhen’s Dapeng New District and covering 31.9 square kilometers, is slated to be a world leading bio-tech innovation centre and industry cluster. The Park is a key development project for Shenzhen, and Ping An Group has recently signed an agreement with Dapeng New District Management Committee to play a leading role in the development of the Park.

Ping An will tap Surbana Jurong’s global planning and design expertise to develop the Park into a leading international centre for biotechnology innovation.

Surbana Jurong wins first township project in Baoshan, China

Yunnan, China, 11 October 2017 – Surbana Jurong Private Limited has won a contract to provide full-suite design services for a housing project in Baoshan city in Yunnan province, China. The project, awarded by the local Baoshan government, consists of 26 blocks of over 2,000 housing units, a multi-storey carpark, a kindergarten and a neighbourhood centre.

This is Surbana Jurong’s first township project in Baoshan. The project, which is about one quarter the size of Singapore’s Marine Parade estate, will reflect the community-centric design that Singapore’s townships are renowned for, with spaces for residents’ interactions and accessible amenities and services. At the same time, it will be planned with sustainability in mind, for example, by greening the roof of the multi-storey carpark.

The project occupies a total site area of 418,000 sqm and is expected to be completed in three years. Surbana Jurong will provide architectural, civil & structural engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering, landscape design, civil defence shelter design as well as site coordination services.

Baoshan city’s vice mayor Geng Mei said, “This township project is Baoshan’s commitment to create a beautiful and sustainable city in this Southwestern region of the BRI.
